Job Summary
The Bar & Hospitality Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial and people management of the Club's bar, hospitality and events activities.
The postholder will ensure that the bar operates efficiently, safely, profitably and in compliance with all licensing and legal requirements, while delivering excellent service to members, guests and event attendees. The role will work with a team of staff to cover the opening hours 9am to 11pm.
Dulwich Sports Club is a thriving Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) offering Tennis, Padel, Cricket, Squash and Croquet, as well as social activities for members and guests. The Club is run by its’ volunteer members, and a small team of paid staff, and aims to provide a welcoming, inclusive and financially sustainable environment for sport and social activity throughout the day
After a probationary period, the Bar & Hospitality Manager will be offered free membership of one of the club's sports sections.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the bar and hospitality team to deliver outstanding guest service, and foster a friendly atmosphere for a sports club environment
- Recruit, train and develop bar staff, and manage staffing rota
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, licensing laws, and company policies
- Manage stock levels, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory control
- Ensure efficient cellar management
- Monitor financial performance, including budgeting and cost control measures
- Propose and develop ideas to generate additional revenue for the club's hospitality service.
- Develop a mid-week daytime offer to support the new Padel section, and other members.
Experience
- Previous experience managing a licensed bar, hospitality venue, sports club, pub or similar operation.
- Experience of staff supervision and rota management.
- Experience of stock control, purchasing and cash management.
- Good understanding of financial performance, budgeting and profitability.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
