Initial Responsibilities
- Handle glass and mirrors with care and precision, following full training and safe workshop procedures at all times.
- Carry out quality control checks, including measuring mirrors, inspecting for damage, and labelling each piece accurately with the correct job reference.
- Assist with stripping mirrors using specialist corrosive chemicals, with full PPE provided and comprehensive training in safe handling.
- Learn and support the sealing and foiling process, using non-corrosive mixtures and workshop-approved techniques to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional workshop environment, including the careful cleaning of mirrors and surrounding work areas.
- Ensure all tasks are completed to deadline, with close attention to the scale, detail, and complexity of each individual project.
Development Over Time
- Develop specialist skills in antiquing mirrors, with direct training and guidance from Dominic Schuster. This role involves access to proprietary techniques and will require the signing of an NDA and non-compete agreement.
- Gain experience in woodworking and frame-making, including the safe use of power tools and practical instruction in workshop craftsmanship.
- Take part in selected design shows, with the opportunity to represent the studio, meet existing and prospective clients, and build familiarity with the wider design industry.
Pay: £23,132.20-£27,000.00 per year
