Handyman (Full Time)
Rate of pay: from £13.00/hour dependent on experience
Hours: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday
Location: Halvergate House, 58 Yarmouth Road, North Walsham, Norfolk
East Anglia Care Homes comprising Sutherlands (Wymondham) and Halvergate House (North Walsham). We are recruiting for a full-time Handyman/Woman to join our team.
Reporting to the care home manager, the Handyman is responsible for ensuring that equipment are maintained in good working order, the building is kept in good decorative order and the home provide a safe and pleasant environment for residents, staff and visitors.
Whist you will be assisted by a gardener to maintain the garden, you still nevertheless retain responsibility for the condition of the garden and grounds. You will be expected to assist as necessary to achieve a good outcome.
Your role will include:
· Responsibility for maintenance of the building and all equipment.
. Audit compliance with regulatory requirements to evidence periodic services have been carried out, issues that arose have been addressed and the environment is safe.
. Manage work of external contractors and ensuring they are carrying out their work safely and competently.
. Oversight and assistance with the garden.
. Keep the manager informend of any non-compliance issues.
The successful applicant will be expected to have the following skills:
· Carry out small plumbing repairs such as changing taps, repair leaking taps, replace sinks and basins
· Carry out small electrical repairs such as changing sockets, switches, replace faulty fittings
· Painting and decorating to a good standard
· Carpentry skills to carryout small fixes
· Some gardening skills
· Diagnostic skills (e.g. to diagnose faults)
· Computer skills as you will be expected to use a computer to evidence compliance and to produce reports
· Good, clear communication skills
