The club
Century is an independent private members' club on Shaftesbury Avenue, in the middle of Soho. Five floors, a rooftop terrace, 1,800 members from film, media, music and hospitality, and a restaurant that serves a modern British menu alongside a private events programme running most nights of the week.
The role
You look after a section across restaurant service, member floors and private events. This is not turn-and-burn covers. Our members eat here weekly, so service is about recognition, timing and consistency rather than a script.
What you will do
- Run a section across restaurant, floor and terrace service
- Take orders accurately, describe dishes with confidence, and handle allergens and dietary requirements correctly
- Recommend and serve wine, and understand what pairs with the menu
- Deliver plated dinners, canapé receptions and buffets for private events
- Operate the till and POS system accurately, handle billing and payments
- Set, clear and reset sections to standard, and complete opening and closing duties
- Work with the kitchen on timing so food leaves the pass and lands hot
What we are looking for
- Minimum one year in a restaurant, hotel or members' club. Fine dining or high-volume quality both work
- Genuine warmth. Members return because of the people, not the room
- Allergen awareness and confidence with dietary requirements
- Wine knowledge is an advantage. Wine interest is essential
- Attention to detail under pressure and a clean, professional presentation
- Right to work in the UK
Pay: From £14.00 per hour
