We are looking for experienced and caring Senior Carers to join our team at Nashley House, our residential dementia care home in Weston-super-Mare.
This is a hands-on senior role, supporting residents with high quality care while also helping to lead the care team on shift. You will work closely with the Home Manager, Deputy / Care Manager, Team Leaders and care staff to make sure residents are safe, well supported and treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
Main duties
- Lead and support care staff during the shift.
- Support residents with personal care and daily routines.
- Administer medication safely, if trained and competent.
- Complete and check daily records using Log My Care.
- Support care plans, risk assessments and resident reviews.
- Monitor residents’ health, wellbeing, mood, food, fluids and skin integrity.
- Report any changes, concerns, incidents or safeguarding issues promptly.
- Support residents living with dementia in a calm and person-centred way.
- Help ensure good standards of dignity, infection control and safe moving and handling.
- Communicate professionally with residents, relatives, staff and visiting professionals.
- Support a positive team culture and help newer staff learn good practice.
About you
We are looking for someone who is reliable, kind and confident supporting older people living with dementia. You should be able to lead by example, stay calm under pressure and make sure care is completed properly during the shift.
You should have:
- Experience working in a care home or similar care setting.
- Senior carer, team leader or medication experience preferred.
- NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care preferred, or willingness to work towards this.
- Good understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding, dignity and confidentiality.
- Confidence using digital care records, or willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
- Flexibility to work alternate weekends as part of the rota.
