Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Built Up Felt Roofer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining built-up roofing systems using felt materials. This role requires a strong understanding of roofing techniques, safety standards, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Duties
- Lay and secure built-up felt roofing materials according to project specifications and schematics
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment safely and efficiently during installation and repairs
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate application of roofing systems
- Perform welding, fabrication, or carpentry tasks as needed to support roofing structures
- Utilise masonry, plumbing, or other construction skills to address related structural requirements
- Conduct heavy lifting of roofing materials and equipment to ensure proper placement and safety compliance
- Apply waterproofing techniques and ensure proper sealing of roofing joints and edges
- Maintain a clean work environment by organising tools and disposing of waste materials appropriately
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations on site to minimise risks during all phases of work
Qualifications
- Proven experience in roofing, construction, or related trades such as carpentry or masonry
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans
- Ability to operate welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and perform fabrication tasks
- Knowledge of roofing systems, including built-up felt applications and waterproofing methods
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and working at heights or on scaffolding
- Experience with plumbing or masonry is advantageous but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in completing tasks accurately
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards
