We're looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to take ownership of HSE across our sites and help drive a strong safety culture while supporting our environmental ambitions. Based in Bathgate and reporting directly to the Operations Director, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a growing food manufacturing business.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be the go-to expert for all things Health, Safety and Environment, including:
- Leading health, safety, fire and environmental compliance across the business
- Developing and maintaining HSE policies, procedures and training programmes
- Driving a proactive safety culture through audits, inspections and risk assessments
- Managing accident investigations, RIDDOR reporting and corrective actions
- Working with operational teams to identify and mitigate risks
- Managing contractor safety, permits, method statements and site inductions
- Liaising with external bodies including the HSE and Environmental Agency
- Delivering meaningful HSE performance reporting to senior leaders
- Promoting sustainability initiatives, waste reduction and environmental improvement projects.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a confident HSE professional who can influence at all levels of the business and isn't afraid to challenge when needed.
Essential:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Strong experience within food manufacturing
- HSE compliance, accident investigation and risk assessment expertise
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Up-to-date CPD record
- Passion for creating safe, compliant and engaging workplaces.
Desirable:
- ISO 14001 Lead Environmental Auditor qualification
- CMIOSH status
- Experience of BRCGS and retailer compliance environments.
