Overview
Join our dynamic team as an 18 tonne skip driver and take charge of delivering and collecting skips with precision and professionalism. Duties
- Safely operate an 18 tonne skip truck to deliver, collect, and swap skips at various locations.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety regulations.
- Load and unload skips efficiently using appropriate equipment, ensuring secure placement on-site or in transit.
- Communicate effectively with customers, site managers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance logs.
- Follow all traffic laws, health and safety standards, and company policies during daily operations.
- Assist with minor vehicle maintenance or report issues promptly to ensure minimal downtime.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with large vehicles such as 18 tonne trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Valid driving license suitable for operating heavy goods vehicles (HGV license preferred).
- Experience with flatbed or similar load types is a plus but not essential.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial vehicle operation.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
- A proactive attitude towards safety, punctuality, and customer service excellence.
