Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Warehouse Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse, handling materials efficiently, and supporting various logistical functions. Responsibilities
- Assist with stock organisation, stocking shelves, and maintaining inventory accuracy using warehouse management systems such as AS400
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Load and unload goods from lorries, ensuring proper handling and storage of materials
- Pick and pack orders accurately for shipping and receiving purposes
- Support shipping & receiving activities, including documentation and tracking of shipments
- Perform basic mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance
- Assist in construction-related tasks or setting up storage areas as needed
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed at all times during heavy lifting or manual handling tasks
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Experience
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Familiarity with forklift operation is advantageous; certification is a plus but not mandatory
- Experience with warehouse management systems such as AS400 is desirable
- Mechanical knowledge or background in construction can be beneficial for understanding equipment maintenance and setup
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment in a fast-paced setting
