Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Group Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, managing accounting processes across multiple entities, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in financial management and accounting software to contribute to organisational success. The ideal applicant will possess extensive experience in financial accounting, accounts payable, and mentoring junior staff, with proficiency in various accounting systems including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft.
Duties
- Prepare and analyse consolidated financial statements for multiple entities within the organisation.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Manage the organisation’s financial systems using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies through diligent financial reporting.
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff to develop their skills and ensure high-quality work standards.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across departments.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Monitor cash flow management and assist with financial risk assessments.
We are seeking a Group accountant to play an integral part of our weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting obligations. In this critical role, you will assist projects alongside the financial controller, utilising your expertise to enhance our financial processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with the review of the monthly group management accounts, including review of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of Statutory Accounts and audit liaison.
- Produce and investigate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Ensure the correct application of group accounting policies and maintain strong controls, compliance, and governance.
- Lead projects, such as the implementation of new systems, to enhance our financial processes.
- Support the finance team with daily tasks such as allocating customer receipts, inbox monitoring and calculating settlement figures.
What you’ll bring
Essential criteria:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA or ICAEW).
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Proficiency in IT systems, particularly Microsoft Excel (Sumifs and lookups).
- Strong understanding of key accounting concepts.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work independently, and part of a team.
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
Preferred criteria:
- Previous experience in financial services is beneficial but not essential.
Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
