Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proficiency in IT applications. As a Legal Secretary, you will play a vital role in supporting our legal professionals by managing documentation, scheduling appointments, and ensuring the smooth operation of the office.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to legal professionals, including managing calendars and scheduling appointments.
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Conduct audio typing of legal dictations accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain organised filing systems for both electronic and paper documents to ensure easy retrieval of information.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties to facilitate smooth operations.
- Assist in the preparation of case files and documentation for court proceedings.
- Utilise Microsoft Outlook for managing emails and scheduling meetings.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential.
- Strong audio typing skills with attention to detail in transcribing legal documents.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures would be advantageous but is not mandatory.
