Role Description The Assistant Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Colchester Area. This role supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, including managing staff schedules, supervising floor activities, and ensuring that guests receive consistently high levels of service. The Assistant Manager helps coordinate bar games and events, monitors safety and compliance, and assists with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory control. Day-to-day responsibilities include coaching team members, resolving guest issues, maintaining a clean and inviting environment, and promoting the All Play Pass and other offerings. The role also contributes to local marketing efforts, social media engagement, and the creation of a fun, inclusive, and energetic atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or bar operations, including supervising teams, managing shifts, and supporting day-to-day venue activities.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle guest inquiries, resolve issues calmly, and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment.
- Operational skills such as cash handling, basic reporting, inventory oversight, and adherence to health, safety, and licensing regulations.
- People management capabilities, including staff training, performance feedback, and collaborative leadership that motivates a diverse team.
- Ability to coordinate social and competitive games or events, with an eye for smooth logistics and engaging guest experiences.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and comfort interacting with guests, team members, and external partners.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and reliability in fast-paced, late-night environments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by nightlife operations; prior experience in bars, clubs, or leisure venues is beneficial.
