Position: Finance Liaison (Accounting & Internal Control)

Key Responsibilities
Financial Closing & Reporting
- Coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
- Review and analyse financial statements and trial balances.
- Review various balance sheet and profit and loss accounts.
- Manage reporting timelines and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely completion.
Headquarters Consolidation Reporting
- Prepare financial data adjustments in accordance with Japanese GAAP.
- Prepare consolidation reporting packages for headquarters.
- Upload financial information to the group consolidation system (STRAVIS).
- Liaise with the accounting team at the Japan headquarters and respond to related inquiries.
Internal Control & Governance
- Support the implementation and operation of internal controls in line with group policies.
- Review business processes and propose operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and approval workflows.
- Support J-SOX compliance and internal control initiatives.
Audit Support
- Communicate and coordinate with local external auditors.
- Collaborate with audit teams in Japan.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and explanations.
- Identify and address accounting issues and audit-related matters.
Management Support
- Provide financial and operational insights to local management.
- Prepare reports for headquarters in Japan.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Participate in projects related to business and management improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with monthly financial closing processes.
- Business-level English communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
Preferred
- Knowledge and practical experience of UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Experience with Japanese GAAP consolidation reporting.
- Experience using consolidation reporting systems such as STRAVIS.
- Experience liaising with external auditors and tax advisers.
- Experience in internal control operations, including J-SOX compliance.
- ACA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent UK accounting qualification.
- Japanese Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
- US CPA qualification.
- Previous experience with a Big Four accounting firm or professional accounting practice.
