Traffic Planner
Location: Halesfield 21, Telford, Shropshire TF7 4NF
Base Salary: £32,000 per annum
Contracted Hours: 45 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 10am - 7.30pm
The Role
We are looking for an organised and proactive Traffic Planner to join our team and support the smooth day-to-day operation of our traffic office.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for coordinating deliveries, communicating with drivers and customers, and ensuring transport activities are planned efficiently and cost-effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the operation to resolve challenges, maintain high service levels and support operational efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and coordinate vehicle movements and deliveries in line with customer requirements.
- Liaise with drivers, customers, depots and internal teams regarding schedules and operational updates.
- Proactively identify and resolve transport and delivery issues.
- Respond to customer enquiries by phone and email.
- Maintain accurate transport records and related administration.
- Support the accounts and invoicing team by assisting with delivery-related queries.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure transport planning activities comply with company procedures, industry regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Support fleet compliance planning, including vehicle inspection schedules.
- Undertake other reasonable duties and ad hoc tasks as required.
The Person
- Previous experience within a transport, logistics or traffic planning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of transport planning systems would be advantageous.
- A valid HGV licence is desirable but not essential.
