About the Role
We are seeking detailed-oriented and reliable Accounts Assistant in the Colchester area to manage the financial records for various local businesses and charities. Successful candidates will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for numbers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage all financial functions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Record all financial transactions in the appropriate ledger using bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, or database and re submitting VAT returns.
- Reconcile bank statements and report any discrepancies.
- Prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Manage payroll functions.
- Ensure financial records comply with legal requirements.
- Provide administrative support and handle communications with client maintaining strong professional relations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Proficiency a variety of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) as well as MS Office (especially Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot numerical errors.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to maintain a complete and systematic set of business transactions.
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Good communication skills for interacting with clients and colleagues.
- Basic understanding of data privacy standards.
Experience:
- Experience in a similar role is essential.
- Familiarity or experience working within the specific industry related to the vacancy is advantageous.
