The Role:
Join us as a Graduate Server Engineer at Pixel Toys and kickstart your career helping to build the next-gen backends and high-performance infrastructure that power our AAA mobile title.
Undertake a unique opportunity to work in a flexible, creative environment where your ideas matter and your code will support millions of players globally. Working alongside our experienced team, you will learn to take ownership of feature development; from initial planning through to the deployment of robust, scalable server technologies. You will collaborate closely with our Designers, Artists, and client-side Developers to ensure game systems are seamlessly integrated and optimised for an exceptional player experience.
Beyond feature development, you will learn to maintain our technical gold standard by profiling code, identifying performance bottlenecks, and solving complex compatibility challenges. Guided by senior mentors, you will become a key contributor to our server stack, participating in code reviews and adopting best practices that ensure the security, stability, and longevity of our infrastructure.
About you:
You are a highly motivated graduate or early-career engineer with a strong foundation in backend concepts, a drive to learn, and a relentless commitment to technical quality.
Proficient in C# (or C++/Java with a desire to specialise in C#) and equipped with an understanding of modern architectural patterns, you are ready to learn how to build and scale server environments. You bring academic, project-based, or self-taught exposure to database solutions, ideally including NoSQL/SQL databases and a keen interest in navigating cloud platforms like AWS. You are eager to expand your toolkit by learning CI/CD automation (such as Jenkins or CodeBuild), security best practices, and real-time monitoring tools like Datadog or Kibana.
In the fast-paced world of Agile development, you stand out as a creative problem solver and a clear communicator who can connect backend logic with broader project goals. You are a proactive team player who thrives on troubleshooting, embraces feedback, and brings a positive "can-do" attitude to every challenge.
Above all, you are fueled by a genuine love for gaming and an eagerness to solve the intricate technical puzzles that come with supporting a global, high-traffic product. Your enthusiasm for learning, collaboration, and modern server technology will make you a vital asset to our engineering team and the future of our games!
