Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit individual to join our team in the main as a Yard Person but will also be required to undertake some Delivery Duties . This role involves safe and efficient handling of fencing materials at the yard and at delivery sites, assisting in general yard operations. The ideal candidate will have some experience of fencing materials, able to drive (must be over 25 years old for fleet insurance purposes), possess excellent communication skills, and be capable of heavy lifting. Working hours up to 41.5 hours / week mainly weekdays, occasional Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general yard and warehouse duties such as organising stock, loading customers and colleagues, and maintaining tidiness around the premises. This will involve the heavy lifting of goods and materials as required, and the use of a forklift.
- Safely operate company vehicles ( lorries, forklift) to move, load and deliver fencing and landscaping goods.
- Package goods onto pallets in readiness for pallet courier and grab lorry deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding fencing requirements, report any issues that arise, assist with delivery schedules.
- Undertake deliveries as required to various residential and trade locations in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all health and safety regulations during yard activities and when driving.
Qualifications
- Experience of working at a fencing company, timber yard or builders merchant advantageous.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Physically fit with the stamina to handle manual tasks throughout the day.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, familiar with forklifts.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record preferably, max 3 points considered.
