Overview
Join our dynamic grounds maintenance team as a De-Vegetation Operative - Groundsman, In this role, you will be responsible for removing unwanted vegetation, maintaining landscaped areas, and supporting various groundskeeping tasks to ensure our sites are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, develop your skills in horticulture and landscape maintenance, and contribute to the upkeep of vital Transport for London Stations - Infrastructure and properties.
Working shifts are Monday to Friday - Day working , night work may be required plus weekends as required.
WSSI /BTA competency tickets are required (courses shall be provided) Certification for the use of hedge trimmer- strimmer, small power tools and Woodchipper to NPTC standards. Pesticide PA1/PA6 certified.
Responsibilities
- Perform de-vegetation activities including clearing overgrown plants, shrubs, and invasive species using hand tools and power equipment.
- Use a variety of hand tools and power tools to prune, trim, and shape plants, trees, and bushes to meet project specifications.
- Support team efforts in ensuring safety protocols are followed during all groundskeeping activities.
- Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture with a strong understanding of plant care and landscape practices.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and troubleshooting common issues related to watering infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools like pruners, saws, hedge trimmers, as well as power tools such as chainsaws or blowers.
- Basic construction experience is advantageous for site preparation tasks.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to machinery operation and groundskeeping activities.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
