MOTORSPORT FABRICATOR / FABRICATION TECHNICIAN
We are looking for an experienced Motorsport Fabricator to join our team, working across a range of competition car, historic motorsport and specialist automotive projects.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong fabrication skills and, importantly, previous experience working on motorsport bodyshells and competition vehicles.
The Role
Working as part of our fabrication and build team, you will be involved in the manufacture, preparation and development of competition vehicles and specialist automotive projects.
Typical work will include:
- Preparation and fabrication of motorsport bodyshells
- Manufacture and installation of roll cages
- Fabrication of tubular and fabricated subframes
- Manufacture of brackets, mounts and vehicle sub-assemblies
- Sheet-metal fabrication and panel work
- Cutting, folding, forming and shaping sheet metal
- MIG and TIG welding
- Fabrication using steel, stainless steel and aluminium
- Repair and modification of existing competition vehicles
- Working from drawings, CAD references and engineering specifications
- Producing accurate, high-quality components from one-off prototypes through to repeat assemblies
- Working closely with our design, engineering and vehicle build teams
Experience & Skills
The successful candidate must have previous experience in motorsport or high-level competition vehicle fabrication.
We are looking for someone with experience in:
- Motorsport bodyshell preparation
- Roll cage fabrication and installation
- Subframe and tubular structure fabrication
- Sheet-metal fabrication
- Folding, cutting, forming and finishing
- MIG and TIG welding
- Jigging and accurate assembly
- Reading and working from engineering drawings
- Producing high-quality fabricated components to tight tolerances
Experience working with FIA-specification competition cars, rally cars, historic competition vehicles or low-volume specialist vehicles would be particularly advantageous.
The Person
We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their fabrication work and understands the level of finish and accuracy expected within professional motorsport.
You should be able to work independently from a drawing or brief, while also working closely with engineers and other members of the build team.
Attention to detail, accuracy and a methodical approach are essential.
