Experienced in care and confident leading a team overnight?
We’re looking for an experienced Night Team Lead to join Towy Castle Care Home.
This is a hands-on senior role for someone who already has a strong background in care and is confident leading a night shift, administering medication and making decisions when senior management aren’t on site.
You may currently be working as a Senior Carer, Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader or Shift Leader and be looking for a permanent night role with greater responsibility and a consistent rolling rota.
About the Role
As the senior person on duty overnight, you’ll lead and support a team of four night staff while helping ensure our residents remain safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night.
You’ll still be involved in providing direct care, this is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll work alongside your team while taking responsibility for the smooth running of the shift.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and coordinating the night team
- Allocating duties and ensuring care needs are met throughout the shift
- Providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care
- Supporting residents with personal care, repositioning and continence care
- Administering medication safely and maintaining accurate medication records
- Completing medication audits and changeovers
- Carrying out welfare and safety checks
- Maintaining accurate care records and providing effective handovers
- Responding confidently to emergencies and unexpected situations
- Liaising with healthcare professionals and Out of Hours services when required
- Supporting the wider team with overnight duties
- Helping maintain a safe, calm and well-organised home throughout the night
Who We’re Looking For
Previous experience working within a care setting is essential.
We need someone who is confident taking responsibility for a shift and supporting colleagues when decisions need to be made.
You’ll need:
✓ Previous experience in residential care or a similar adult social care setting
✓ Previous senior, supervisory or team-leading experience within care
✓ Experience administering medication and completing medication records
✓ Confidence making decisions and responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies
✓ Good knowledge of person-centred care
✓ Strong communication and leadership skills
✓ A calm, reliable and professional approach
✓ The ability to commit to permanent night working
Experience supporting older people and people living with dementia would be particularly welcomed.
An NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent is desirable.
Your Rota
10:00pm - 8:00am
3 nights on / 3 nights off rolling rota
This is a permanent night position and the rolling rota includes weekends and bank holidays.

About Towy Castle
Towy Castle provides residential and dementia care for older adults in beautiful surroundings overlooking the Towy Estuary.
Our night team plays an important role in ensuring residents feel safe, reassured and well supported throughout the night, and as Night Team Lead, you’ll be the person helping to keep that team organised, supported and confident.
Location & Travel
Towy Castle Care Home is located near Carmarthen and is within travelling distance of Llanelli, Llandeilo, Ammanford, Cross Hands, Kidwelly, St Clears, Whitland and surrounding areas.
The home is in a rural location with limited public transport, particularly during night-time hours. You must be able to travel reliably to and from the home for 10:00pm starts and 8:00am finishes.
