Field IT Engineer
Feel pride in the quality of your work.
Are you a hands-on IT Engineer looking to build your skills and experience working on exciting projects for some of the biggest names in hospitality? Doetaylor Ltd is an innovative, fast-moving IT solutions provider with a reputation for exceptional workmanship. We're looking for a motivated field engineer to join our team and deliver the kind of quality our clients have come to expect.
Why Join Us?
You'll be joining a team that values honesty, integrity, and quality — working on projects that genuinely make a difference. We're committed to helping our people grow, offering hands-on training and clear development pathways for those looking to advance their careers in IT and networking.
And working in hospitality has its benefits. You'll meet some brilliant, welcoming people, visit remarkable venues across the UK, and — we won't pretend otherwise — the occasional breakfast, lunch, or dinner courtesy of a grateful client has been known to happen.
What You'll Do
- Install and configure wireless access points and Wi-Fi infrastructure on site.
- Install and commission CCTV cameras and associated equipment.
- Carry out structured cabling works including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A installation and termination.
- Perform maintenance visits to existing comms cabinets — inspecting, patching, and keeping things tidy and operational.
- Troubleshoot on-site IT and network issues, escalating to senior engineers where needed.
- Work across a variety of commercial environments, representing Doetaylor professionally at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Some experience in a field-based IT, cabling, or telecoms role — you don't need to know everything, but you'll need a solid foundation to build on.
- A practical, can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working on building sites and in live commercial environments.
- A people person — you'll be visiting client sites regularly and building relationships matters as much as the technical work.
- Good communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
- A valid UK driving licence (minimal endorsements) with at least three years' driving experience.
- An ECS Network Infrastructure Installer card or similar qualification is desirable but not essential.
Training and Development
This is a role where you'll genuinely grow. Building on your existing experience, we'll provide hands-on training and support in:
- Networking — configuring and troubleshooting switches, routers, and network infrastructure.
- Wireless — Wi-Fi installation, configuration, and fault-finding.
- CCTV and Access Control — working with a range of systems and hardware.
- Cyber Security — an introduction to modern security principles and best practices.
Whether you're working toward your first certification or looking to move into a more senior engineering role, we'll back you every step of the way.
What We Offer
- Five days a week with the opportunity to travel throughout the UK from a London base — the occasional early start or late finish comes with the territory.
- Everything you need from day one — all tools, PPE, uniform, phone, and laptop provided, along with access to our modern company fleet. When you're not on the road, our head office has on-site parking, a café, and a great location to make the commute worthwhile.
- Our head office is at the Business Design Centre in Islington, North London — a landmark converted Victorian exhibition hall home to a thriving community of creative and tech businesses, with excellent transport links, on-site parking, and a café.
- See the world (a bit): Our work takes us across some wonderful venues and locations throughout the UK. We also have active projects across most of Europe, and clients in the US, Australia, and beyond — so for the right person, there are genuinely exciting opportunities to travel internationally.
We are an equal opportunities employer. If you're ready to get stuck in, develop your skills, and work on projects you can be proud of — we'd love to hear from you.
