Job Summary: what will you do as Turner Home's healthcare assistant?
As our health care assistant, you will work alongside our nurse to support the people who live at The Turner Home to feel safe, content and well. You will do this by supporting people to follow their care plans, providing personal care where necessary, tailoring support to each person’s unique wants and needs and being there for people if they need you.
We are looking for someone who:

About The Turner Home
The Turner Home is a 59-bed care home that supports men living with mental and physical health conditions, including dementia.
For over a century, our unique and beautiful 1800s building in Dingle, Liverpool, has been home to lots of men of all ages living with varying complex health needs. Our team of amazing care staff, clinical staff and managers work alongside our residents and their families to plan personalised care that gives each and every person who lives at Turner Home as much independence and choice as possible.
Your main duties
As our healthcare assistant, you will:
Support our residents
· Support residents to do the things on their care plan in a way that gives them as much choice and independence as possible.
· Work alongside our nurse to provide personal care where needed, supporting residents with things like getting up or going to bed, dressing and undressing, washing, bathing, grooming, eating, drinking, using the toilet, dental care and care of any pressure areas.
· Help residents to move about safely with the use of aids and adaptations (in line with manual handling guidelines).
· Keep an eye on the health and wellbeing of our residents, making sure to adapt how you support them to make every day better than the last.
· Take part in reviews of our residents’ care plans when needed.
Build strong relationships
· Use your excellent people skills to build strong relationships with your team, our nurse, the people who live at The Turner Home and their families, and other Turner Home colleagues.
Health and Safety
· Wear the right personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniform for the job you are doing.
· Report all accidents quickly and accurately, following all of The Turner Home’s policies and procedures.
Quality and Compliance
· Work to Turner Home policies, procedures, legislative requirements and regulatory requirements.
· Keep accurate and up-to-date records.
· Report any aspect of resident care which you think needs investigation or urgent action and take appropriate action in an emergency. This includes sharing information about any Turner Home employee who you think may pose a risk of harm to vulnerable adults, in accordance with Turner Home Safeguarding and Whistle Blowing Policies.
· Make sure residents’ data is lawfully gathered, accurate and up-to-date, and that it is only ever divulged in line with General Data Protection Regulations (Regulation (EU) 2016/679). Failure to do this can lead to the nurse or the company facing court proceedings.
