We are proud of our long history of caring for older people with dignity, respect, and kindness. To continue providing the very best for our residents, we are now looking for a talented and passionate Chef to join our team at Beechwood House.
The Role
As our Chef, you will take the lead in planning and preparing high-quality, nutritious, and appealing meals for our residents, tailored to individual dietary requirements. You’ll work closely with the care and management team to ensure mealtimes are a highlight of the day, supporting both health and enjoyment.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare and cook fresh, home-style meals that meet residents’ nutritional needs and preferences.
- Design seasonal menus, incorporating feedback from residents and families.
- Cater for special diets including vegetarian, vegan, diabetic, gluten-free, and allergy-specific requirements.
- Ensure every meal is prepared to the highest standards of quality, presentation, and food safety.
- Manage ordering, stock control, and budgets effectively.
- Work collaboratively with care and nursing staff to support residents’ health and wellbeing.
- Create a warm and positive dining experience that residents look forward to each day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with environmental health, HACCP, and CQC food safety standards.
- Supervise and guide kitchen assistants to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Keep the kitchen and equipment clean, organised, and safe at all times.
- Monitor portion control, waste, and cost efficiency.
- Participate in care planning where dietary needs are a priority.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment.
- Strong understanding of nutrition, special diets, and food safety regulations.
- Creativity in menu planning with a passion for fresh, home-cooked meals.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and respect for older people and their individual needs.
- Food Hygiene and Safety certification (Level 2 or above).

Additional Information
- Location: Beechwood House, South Croydon, London.
- Hours:
a).Full-time (including weekends on a rota basis).
b). 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with 1 hour break - Monday to Friday. 40 hours
c).7:30 am to 2:30 pm with 1 hour break - Monday ro Friday - 30 hours
