About the job
The HR Advisor plays a key role in providing a high quality HR service in a dynamic business and our subsidiary businesses. The position works closely with the HR Team and focuses on providing High Level HR support & advice to the business, especially on recruitment, employment law, and delivering HR Project Work. The role is also responsible for the vehicle fleet.
Main Responsibilities
· Support the Director of HR in providing an effective HR advisory service to several business areas based across the UK (circa 320 people)
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with our people including the Executive team, so as to be able to identify and respond to current and future people related requirements
· Regularly maintain and update all HR & Recruitment systems
· Recruit and attract the best talent to the business at all levels; including reviewing CV’s, conducting interviews and formulating offers
- Manage the relationship with our vehicle fleet provider, be the first point of contact for any escalations or internal actions required, and pro-activly suggest and implement improvements to the fleet
· Work with line managers to co-ordinate allocated disciplinary, sickness and grievance issues to ensure adherence to both company process and legislation, that a fair process is followed and that thorough investigations are conducted where required
· Understand and respond appropriately to the requirements of the diverse business units and variety of cultures and approaches to HR
· Actively support the annual performance management processes, reinforcing the importance of continuous performance management including objective setting, giving and receiving honest feedback, and personal development
· Coordinate the Induction programme for all new members of staff
· Analyse, report, and act on monthly HR trends
· Assist with the payroll coordination, including checking the month payroll data
· Responsible for processing employee records throughout the employee lifecycle
· Aligning your activities with the HR and business strategy, including Company Mission, Vision and Values
Our Ideal Candidate
· Negotiating and influencing skills with the gravitas to command professional respect at all levels; adept at handling difficult individuals to gain positive and constructive outcomes
· Demonstratable practical application of current employment law
· Experience of managing Performance Management processes; including management of risk and links to other HR processes
· Experience of providing training to managers on HR policies and processes.
· Great written, phone and face to face communicator
· Strong attention to detail & good problem-solving skills
· Ability to plan and organise own time to meet deadlines, juggling multiple priorities
Required Experience
· At least 3 years within a HR Advisor role
· Experience of working within either Engineering or Manufacturing multi-site business an advantage
· Flexibility to travel to other sites when needed, with occasional overnight stays
· Strong IT skills, including Microsoft systems (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Knowledge of IRIS Cascade (HR System) an advantage
· CIPD level 5 an advantage

About the Business area
J & E Hall’s central HR, Finance and IT functions are based out of our head office in Dartford and support all areas of the business across all 10 locations.
Our IT team provide full IT services across the business and ensure we adhere to all industry standards. Our HR team are responsible for all HR activities including recruitment, reward & benefits, organisational design, performance and payroll and work closely with each location to provide ongoing support. Our customer focused finance team provide consolidated business analysis and monthly reporting for J & E Hall.
