An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full time, Fixed Term Contract Financial Management Accountant to join the Goonvean Group's Engineered Segment on a fixed-term basis to provide cover during a period of shared parental leave - from 7th September through to the end of January 2027.
Working as part of a supportive finance team of seven, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information across the Engineered businesses, with a particular focus on supporting financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis. This role would suit an experienced management accountant who enjoys working closely with operational teams and has previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs
- Analyse financial performance and investigate variances against budget and forecast
- Produce profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
- Monitor key financial metrics and KPIs
- Work closely with operational and departmental managers to provide financial insight and support decision-making
- Monitor costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency
- Support inventory, project and departmental cost reviews
- Maintain robust financial controls and procedures
- Support both internal and external audit requirements
- Assist with year-end reporting and audit preparation
- Drive continuous improvement within finance processes and reporting
- Support the development and use of finance systems including Sage 50 and Continuum
About You
We're looking for someone who can quickly integrate into the team and add value from day one.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in management accounting and monthly financial reporting
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis skills
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment
- Experience using accounting and ERP systems, ideally Sage 50 and/or Continuum
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the business
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Part-qualified, finalist or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
