Private Family Housekeeper
£20–£23 per hour, depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced, reliable and discreet private housekeeper to help manage a busy family home situated on a working farm in rural Herefordshire.
This is a permanent role for a minimum of five hours per day, five days per week. There is some flexibility around the daily working hours, although the successful candidate will need to accommodate occasional school runs and the needs of the household.
Key responsibilities
- Thorough cleaning and general upkeep of the family home
- Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
- Preparing lunch and an evening meal for the family
- Keeping household supplies organised and replenished
- Occasional shopping and household errands
- Assisting with some school runs
- Helping to maintain an organised, calm and well-run household
- Liaising with the family regarding household priorities and schedules
The house is located on a working farm, so the role would suit someone who is comfortable in a rural environment and understands that farm life can occasionally require flexibility. The family two businesses on site, the farm and also a busy holiday let business with 6 properties available to let year round.
For the right candidate, there may also be the opportunity to work additional hours assisting with the management of our holiday accommodation. This could include coordinating the cleaning team, checking properties between stays, monitoring standards and helping with the general day-to-day running of the lodges.
Essential requirements
Applicants must:
- Have at least three years’ experience working as a housekeeper within a private household
- Be able to provide strong and recent references
- Hold a current, in-date DBS certificate
- Have a full UK driving licence
- Have their own reliable car
- Be confident preparing fresh, straightforward family meals
- Be reliable, trustworthy, discreet and able to work independently
- Have excellent attention to detail and take pride in maintaining high standards
Hours and pay
- Minimum of 25 hours per week
- Five days per week, with occasional weekend or evening work with notice.
- Approximately five hours per day, with some flexibility over start and finish times
- £15–£20 per hour, depending on experience
- Additional hours may be available
