Rate of Pay: £206 - £277 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Mid-September 2026 | Long-Term Role until July 2027
Location: Greenwich
An outstanding secondary school in Greenwich is seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join its successful English department on a long-term basis from mid-September 2026 until July 2027.

The successful English Teacher will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire a love of literature and language while helping students achieve excellent academic outcomes. Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
The successful English Teacher will have:
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (ECTs are welcome to apply)
- A degree or equivalent qualification in English or a related subject
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
Teaching Experience
- Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons across KS3 and KS4
- A passion for inspiring students of all abilities to achieve their full potential
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
- A strong track record of promoting excellent pupil progress
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff
- A willingness to contribute positively to the wider school community
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent subject knowledge of the secondary English curriculum
- Strong classroom management skills
- Effective use of assessment to support teaching and learning
- Confident use of ICT to enhance learning
- The ability to differentiate effectively for pupils with varying needs, including EAL and SEND
- Excellent communication and organisational skills

- High expectations of both pupils and themselves
- A reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement
