Community Use is a team dedicated to ensuring that halls, community centres, and schools across Fife are accessible for learning, leisure, cultural activities, and community events. Working in partnership with a range of organisations, we deliver an inclusive programme of activities including sport and physical activity, performing arts, arts and crafts, cookery, modern languages, and vocational training. We also provide spaces for meetings, celebrations, and events in both modern and historic venues across Fife’s towns and villages. Further information can be found at: https://active.fife.scot/about/community-use
Reporting to the Community Use Cluster Supervisor, you will undertake a frontline, customer-facing role. You will engage positively with customers and service users, responding to enquiries via telephone, email, and face-to-face interaction, while also operating booking systems and procedures.
As a Community Use Attendant, you will predominantly work weekends, in line with service demands, with some evening work also required. The role operates on a shift basis of up to five days over seven. Opening shifts typically begin around 8:30am, with back shifts finishing as late as 10:30pm, so flexibility is essential. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across designated areas, as well as setting up and clearing equipment and spaces to support a wide range of activities.
You will work in line with service guidelines, health and safety policies, and all relevant risk assessments and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include completing regular building compliance checks such as fire safety, water quality, and asbestos monitoring.
You will also act as a nominated key holder, ensuring buildings are opened and secured at the appropriate times. This includes responsibility for internal, external, and outdoor areas, operation of alarm systems, and responding to out-of-hours activations where required. Lone working may occasionally be necessary.
A driving licence is not essential; however, you may be required to travel between Community Use facilities as part of your shift pattern, including providing cover at short notice. Some locations have limited public transport, so candidates should consider their ability to travel reliably, particularly for early morning or late evening shifts.
A link to the role profile is included below, providing further details about the position and the type of candidate we are seeking.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
You will possess strong communication skills, be customer-focused, and demonstrate a consistent “can-do” attitude.
