The Role
As a Residential Night Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, stable and nurturing home environment for children and young people.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll help ensure young people feel safe, supported and cared for throughout the night. You'll provide reassurance when needed, respond to incidents or welfare concerns, complete accurate records and contribute to maintaining a positive and homely environment.
While the home may be quieter during the night, your role is incredibly important. Many young people may experience anxiety, emotional difficulties or disrupted sleep patterns, and your calm, caring presence can make a significant difference to their wellbeing.
This is an opportunity to be more than just a support worker. You'll become a trusted adult, positive role model and consistent source of support, helping young people build resilience, confidence and brighter futures.
What You'll Be Doing
- Promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people throughout the night
- Providing emotional support, reassurance and guidance when needed
- Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with young people
- Monitoring the home and responding appropriately to incidents or welfare concerns
- Completing accurate records, reports and handovers
- Carrying out household tasks to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment
- Supporting positive routines and healthy behaviours
- Encouraging independence, confidence and life skills development
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes
- Acting as a positive role model and helping young people navigate challenges in a healthy and constructive way
Who We're Looking For

- Reliable, flexible and able to work independently during overnight shifts
- Passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Committed to ongoing learning and professional development
Essential
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals in a support, care or residential setting
- Ability to work overnight shifts as part of a rota, including weekends and bank holidays
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)
