We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Community Development Worker to join our South Yorkshire team. You will be providing tailored HIV & STI prevention work with the aim of reducing the incidence and late diagnosis of HIV and STIs
Community Development Worker African and Migrant Communities (AMC)
To develop expertise in and focus most of the work on Black African and Migrant communities, whilst maintaining skills to work with all population groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake outreach work focusing on Black African and Migrant community groups, areas and events
- Develop forums, groups and events which meet the needs of these communities
- Offer information and sexual health resources in a variety of settings
- Deliver community-based sexual health interventions including HIV, syphilis point of care tests (POCT) and STI screening
- Work with existing groups, community leaders, shops, venues and other appropriate organisations
- Deliver workshops and training to professionals and community members
Essential Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible hours (evening and weekend working required)
- Commitment to reducing HIV/STI transmission and improving sexual health
- Understanding of community development principles
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
