Polygon Pubs is a gastro pub group with 2 Clapham based pubs, The Rose & Crown and The Ox. Serving lunch and dinner every day, with a growing focus on sourcing our own beef from our family farm. We are regularly booked for private events in our first floor private room, anything from weddings to birthday celebrations and dancing parties.
As an Assistant Manager for Polygon Pubs you are the person who manages the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and bar alongside the General Manager. The main purpose of this role is to help manage all aspects of the restaurant, ensuring that every customer has the best possible experience, that team morale is high, and that Polygon Pubs standards and values alongside commercial success are achieved. You will ensure that the order of service is being followed, that the appearance of the venue is up to scratch.

Key Responsibilities
- Full accountability of the site in the General Manager's absence
- Help to lead a motivated team to ensure a smooth-running, profitable restaurant
- Assist in hiring, training and supervising of full time and part time employees - you will oversee trial shifts and decide if we should or should not offer the candidate the job
- Drive sales within the restaurant
- Ensure all financial procedures are adhered to, which include: Labour (organising staff schedules to be in line with agreed budget), Stock control (accurate counting and entering of figures)
- Support the General Manager in understanding the local area to recognise marketing opportunities and other competitors
- Ensure the Health and Safety regulations are strictly observed, recorded and archived
- Monitor quality and availability of products and service provided
- Hitting agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include: Customers' feedback and reviews, Health, Safety and Hygiene results, Operational Checks, Periodical P&L's results, Appraisal feedback
- Ensure all security procedures are adhered to
- Completion of all necessary documentation to company standard (e.g. Trail)

Responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily operations of the hotel, including front desk, housekeeping, and food and beverage departments
- Coordinate and manage catering events, ensuring excellent service and customer satisfaction
- Assist with food production and bartending as needed
- Collaborate with the banquet team to plan and execute successful events
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering supplies
- Train and supervise staff members, ensuring they adhere to company policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Assistant Manager or Supervisor in a restaurant
- Strong knowledge of catering operations, including food preparation, service, and event planning
- Familiarity with bartending techniques and beverage service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
