Background
Local Village Network is a grassroots charity set up to teach young people networking skills and enable social mobility.
Our aim is to level the playing field by enabling all young people aged 14-24 equal access to positive networks and mentors, delivered within a positive and nurturing environment. We aim to reduce social exclusion and increase community cohesion between young people, businesses, and statutory services. Many of the recipients of our programmes come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are identified as being at risk of school exclusion and or long-term unemployment.
Our programmes are designed to expose students to volunteers that they’re likely to encounter whilst trying to gain employment and to take away the fear and to give them confidence to communicate to new and diverse people; give them a different perspective on life with the confidence that they are valued and able to succeed; and help them understand the skills and experience they already have.
We are looking to recruit a new role to support our expanding online mentoring programmes.
Job Description
Local Village Network youth charity dedicated to ensuring that every young person has access to positive networks and an equal chance to reach their full potential.
Our flagship group mentoring programme ‘Amplify Me’ is delivered in schools across London to year 10 and year 12 students. It is a 6-week programme. Students are introduced to mentors from industry who share their career journeys and describe how networking has helped them to succeed. Every session is run by an LVN facilitator. We are currently in 12 schools every half-term.
Upon completion of ‘Amplify Me’, students are offered the opportunity to have 3 one-2-one online mentoring sessions focused on a selection of career-focused topics. All content is provided on our online platform, so the training of volunteers is around using the technology and giving them a flavour of the students they are going to be talking to.
You will be working (remotely) alongside the rest of the LVN team.
This is a relatively new product for LVN, and we are looking for someone to take on the ongoing management of this exciting new programme.
