Night Shift Engineer – Where Precision Meets Performance
Are you an engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges while the world sleeps? This is your opportunity to step into a role where your expertise keeps an entire production operation running at peak efficiency.
We’re looking for a multi-skilled, technically driven Night Shift Engineer who takes pride in precision maintenance, rapid fault diagnosis, and engineering excellence. This isn’t just about fixing machines—it’s about mastering systems, optimising performance, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced food production (bakery) environment.
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining and enhancing critical plant machinery. From planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to high-pressure breakdown response, your technical expertise will ensure minimal downtime and maximum output.
You’ll work across mechanical and electrical systems, including:
- Single and three-phase electrical circuits
- High-performance production machinery
- Site facilities and infrastructure systems
With each task, you’ll apply analytical thinking and technical skill to diagnose, repair, and refine—ensuring every component is running at optimal efficiency.
Your nights will be defined by:
- Executing structured maintenance schedules aligned with industry best practices
- Rapid-response troubleshooting to minimise downtime and production losses
- Conducting machine overhauls, repairs, and installations
- Supporting new equipment integration and plant upgrades
You won’t just fix faults—you’ll identify root causes, implement long-term solutions, and continuously improve system reliability.
Engineering excellence starts with safety. You’ll:
- Perform detailed risk assessments before every task
- Ensure all machinery is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose
- Champion a culture of proactive safety and technical accountability
Every decision you make will protect both people and production.
We’re seeking engineers who bring:
- A recognised Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship
- Strong multi-skilled capability (mechanical bias with electrical competence)
- Experience within food production / FMCG environments
- Knowledge of BRC standards and food safety practices
- A sharp eye for detail and a methodical, solution-focused mindset
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Thrives under pressure and enjoys hands-on technical problem solving
- Is driven to optimise, improve, and innovate
- Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively across teams
- Takes ownership and leads by example
Night shift engineering is where real expertise shines—when challenges arise, you're the one who keeps operations moving. Your decisions matter, your skills make the difference, and your impact is immediate.
If you’re ready to take ownership of complex systems, drive reliability, and engineer solutions that keep production running flawlessly—this is your role.
