Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Gardener to support our horticultural team in maintaining and enhancing our landscape and garden areas. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and landscape maintenance, with a keen eye for detail and a willingness to learn. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in horticulture while working alongside experienced professionals.
Duties
- Assist with planting, pruning, watering, and fertilising plants and shrubs using hand tools and power tools.
- Support irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal water distribution.
- Help with landscape maintenance tasks including lawn mowing, edging, and weed control.
- Operate various gardening equipment safely and efficiently, including power tools and irrigation systems.
- Assist in the preparation of soil beds, planting new flora, and transplanting as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure all tools are stored properly after use.
- Support the team during specialised horticultural projects and seasonal garden enhancements.
Experience
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, irrigation systems, and gardening equipment is advantageous.
- Growing experience or knowledge of horticultural practices will be considered a plus.
- A genuine interest in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture is essential.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Basic understanding of plant care, landscape techniques, and garden safety protocols is preferred but not mandatory. This position offers an engaging environment for those passionate about gardening and landscape care, providing valuable skills development within a supportive team setting.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
