Are you an ambitious Sous Chef looking to join one of Chester's busiest independent pubs?
The Faulkner is a thriving neighbourhood pub and restaurant in the heart of Hoole, known for quality fresh food, exceptional cocktails and genuine hospitality. We're looking for a passionate Sous Chef to work alongside our Head Chef and help lead a talented kitchen team as we continue to grow.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in producing consistently high-quality food, enjoys leading by example and wants to be part of a business that values teamwork, creativity and high standards.
What you'll be doing
As Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including:
- Supporting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional food every service
- Leading the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
- Preparing and cooking dishes to specification with excellent presentation
- Maintaining consistency and quality across every plate leaving the kitchen
- Supervising, motivating and developing junior chefs and kitchen porters
- Ensuring each section is fully prepared for service and capable of delivering the menu efficiently
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising waste
- Maintaining the highest food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Completing all kitchen compliance and daily records
- Supporting private functions, special events and menu development
- Working closely with our front-of-house team to deliver an outstanding guest experience
We're looking for someone who
- Has previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie ready for the next step
- Thrives in a busy fresh-food kitchen
- Leads from the front and enjoys developing others
- Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Is passionate about quality food and consistency
- Holds a strong understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance
- Remains calm under pressure and enjoys a fast-paced service
