Job Overview
MKR Recovery is looking for a reliable, organised, and proactive Yard Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our busy vehicle storage and recovery yard. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and experience managing vehicle movements in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the vehicle storage yard.
- Ensure recovery drivers are loaded and dispatched efficiently to minimise delays.
- Manage the collection and release of vehicles from the storage yard.
- Process incoming vehicles, ensuring all paperwork and records are completed accurately.
- Organise and store vehicles safely and efficiently within the yard.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of vehicles and their locations.
- Liaise with recovery drivers, control room staff, customers, garages, and third parties.
- Ensure the yard is kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures.
- Assist with the smooth running of daily transport operations and resolve any operational issues as they arise.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Previous experience in a transport, recovery, logistics, or vehicle storage environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Must be able to pass Police vetting.
Desirable
- Experience operating a forklift truck (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of vehicle recovery or roadside assistance operations.
- Experience managing vehicle storage yards or transport depots.
