Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years Room Leader to oversee and support the development of children within our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with young children. This role offers an opportunity to lead a small team in the toddler room, implement high-quality childcare practices, and contribute positively to children's early learning experiences. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes children's growth and development.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the early years team to deliver engaging and age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Plan, organise, and evaluate daily activities that support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
- Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and wellbeing within the nursery environment
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and teamwork
- Monitor individual progress of children and provide feedback to parents during regular meetings
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and nursery policies
- Support staff training and professional development initiatives
- Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning documentation, and reporting incidents as necessary
- Drive continuous improvement in childcare quality through reflective practice and innovation
Experience
- Proven management or leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Extensive working knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Prior experience working directly with children in a nursery or similar environment
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential
- Experience with nursery administration and record keeping is desirable
