We are looking for a proactive, organised and empathetic Governance Officer to help us deliver high-quality governance across our Trust. This is a key role that keeps our governance processes running smoothly, from supporting meetings and panels to coordinating governor recruitment and development.
You don’t need previous governance experience. If you are highly organised, confident communicating with a range of people, and comfortable working with sensitive information, we will provide full training and ongoing support to help you thrive.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensuring governance meetings run efficiently, including preparing agendas, taking minutes and providing clear administrative support.
- Coordinating recruitment, onboarding and development for our governors.
- Supporting statutory panels such as suspensions, exclusions and complaints, with professionalism and impartiality.
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues, governors and school leaders.
- Using Trust policies, frameworks and guidance to provide accurate, helpful advice.
What we’re looking for
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to remain calm, impartial and professional in challenging or sensitive situations.
- A positive, solutions focused attitude and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Willingness to attend some evening meetings (with time off in lieu).
- Access to your own transport to travel to schools across the Trust, and on occasion, outside of the Trust.
What we offer
- A warm, supportive team that values your contribution.
- One to one training and ongoing professional development.
- Flexible working opportunities to help you balance work and life.
- A varied, rewarding role where no two days are the same.
If you enjoy helping others, take pride in high-quality work, and are motivated by supporting effective governance, we would be delighted to receive your application.
