The job has a long-term R&R agreement of 10% rising to 12.5% on qualification after the apprenticeship.
The purpose of this role is to develop the skills needed for the role of Cardiac Physiologist, through a 3-year apprenticeship training program.
The post holder will undergo a blended learning process, utilizing both University-based and work-based learning, reaching the skills and competencies for level 6 Apprenticeship Standard ST0413 Healthcare Science Practitioner (Degree) - Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education).
On completion, the Apprentice will move into a permanent band 5 role as a Cardiac Physiologist. This Level 6 Apprenticeship Course is an integrated degree course funded to a maximum of £27000. Travel and accommodation for University training days is not funded by the hospital.
During the training period, the Apprentice will be expected to attend college and complete training modules, undertake academic work, complete competencies and work-based assessments as well as construct an online portfolio. There will be a minimum of 20% off the job training during the apprenticeship period.
On completion of the training period, the Apprentice will have gained all the knowledge, skills and competencies, attitudes, values and behaviours to perform complex clinical technical procedures and diagnostic tests within the scope of their practice in cardiology, including:

- 12-lead ECGs, Holter analysis, exercise testing, perfusion stress testing, remote monitoring of ILRs and tilt testing.
- Invasive technical expertise will be developed in the catheter laboratories for coronary intervention, non-complex pacing implants and assisting in pacemaker clinics.
- The post holder will be expected to support the primary PCI service, including participating in the on-call rota once qualified
This role is an entry point role within a healthcare science department and as such the post holder will be expected to be developing scientific skills and knowledge to underpin and develop their work.
There is ample opportunity for further development and education after the apprenticeship period.

Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years and have a right to work in the UK (Visas must cover the entirety of the training programme)
Must not be in full-time education
Able to work at least 30 hours per week
GCSE in English and Maths at grade 4/C (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications).
Three A levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications) preferably with one in a science subject, reaching a minimum of 120 UCAS points
Able to train and commit to an educational program in a full range of non-invasive and invasive techniques at a basic level.
Able to communicate information effectively in a precise and timely manner.
Good organisational skills, able to complete assignments and meet deadlines within University timeframes alongside clinical training.
Has experience of delivery of care within a Healthcare setting.
