Do you want to make a real difference in your community?
Homelife is a volunteer-led project helping people in Newport feel safe, secure, and settled. We work alongside individuals who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness, offering practical support, encouragement, and a steady, friendly presence when it matters most.
Homelife is base at the Hive, 10 Stow Hill, Newport NP20 1JB, a community hub with a laundrette, cooking facilities and a very warm welcome, created to feel just like your own living room.
About the Role
As a Homelife Volunteer, you’ll be supporting people to build confidence and stability in their lives. This can involve:
- Offering a listening ear and emotional support
- Helping someone settle into a new home
- Assisting with setting up utilities, bills, furniture, or basic household items
- Encouraging positive routines and budgeting confidence
- Supporting people to connect with local services, activities, and networks
- Providing companionship—sometimes just a coffee and a chat makes all the difference
Every journey is different, and volunteers help individuals find the right support to make their tenancy a success.
Why Volunteer With Us?
- Make a direct, meaningful impact on someone’s life
- Meet new people and become part of a supportive volunteer community
- Flexible opportunities to suit your time and interests
- Full induction, training, and ongoing supervision
- DBS check arranged for you
- Travel and reasonable expenses reimbursed
- Opportunities to get involved beyond 1:1 support—such as fundraising, collecting donations, or helping run activities and events
What We Ask
You don’t need specialist skills—just empathy, reliability, and a desire to help your community.
