Occupational Health Technician
Location: Morecambe and Preston clinics, with travel to client sites
Job Overview
Join our growing healthcare team as an Occupational Health Technician, supporting the delivery of high-quality occupational health services from our Morecambe and Preston clinics and at client workplaces.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in a healthcare setting, such as a Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant or Auxiliary Nurse, who would like to develop a career in occupational health. Previous occupational health experience is beneficial but not essential, as the company will fund the successful candidate’s Occupational Health Technician training course.
You will assist with medical assessments, take and record clinical readings, conduct drug and alcohol testing, and help deliver safety-critical medicals following appropriate training and competency sign-off. You will also communicate with client companies and support doctors and other healthcare professionals during clinics.
Duties
- Assist with safety-critical medical assessments under appropriate clinical guidance
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing in accordance with established procedures
- Take and accurately record clinical readings, observations and test results
- Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals during occupational health assessments
- Support clinics at our Morecambe and Preston locations as required
- Travel to client workplaces to help deliver onsite occupational health clinics
- Communicate professionally with client companies and respond to general queries
- Refer clinical or complex queries to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear clinical documentation
- Maintain confidential health records in accordance with data-protection requirements
- Ensure that clinical equipment is clean, organised, calibrated and ready for use
- Follow infection-control, health and safety, clinical governance and confidentiality procedures
- Contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of the occupational health service
Experience and Requirements
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred, ideally as a Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant, Auxiliary Nurse or in a similar role
- Previous experience conducting safety-critical medicals or drug and alcohol testing is desirable but not essential
- A compassionate, professional and patient-focused approach
- Confidence in taking clinical readings and working directly with patients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive medical information appropriately
- Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team
- Willingness to complete an Occupational Health Technician course funded by the company
- Flexibility to work from both the Morecambe and Preston clinics and travel to client sites
- A valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle are essential

Pay: £12.75-£13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 22.5 per week
