Overview
A specialist SEND provision in Sleaford is seeking a dedicated School-Based Occupational Support Worker to join their multidisciplinary team from September. The school supports children and young people with a range of additional needs including autism, physical disabilities, sensory processing differences, learning difficulties and complex developmental needs.
Working closely with teaching staff and therapists, the successful candidate will support pupils to develop the practical, physical and sensory skills needed to access learning, participate in everyday school activities and increase their independence.
This role is full-time and offers excellent potential for a permanent appointment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of occupational therapy programmes and recommendations throughout the school day.
- Assist pupils with fine motor development, handwriting, coordination, sensory regulation and physical skill development.
- Deliver targeted interventions focused on independence, self-care and daily living skills.
- Support pupils with classroom adaptations, movement breaks and sensory regulation activities.
- Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, teachers and SEND professionals to achieve identified outcomes.
- Assist pupils in developing practical life skills such as organisation, independence and personal care routines where appropriate.
- Adapt resources, environments and activities to ensure accessibility for all learners.
- Encourage participation, self-confidence and resilience within both educational and social activities.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to therapists and education staff.
- Contribute to reviews, EHCP targets and multidisciplinary planning meetings where appropriate.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, physical disabilities or complex needs.
- Understanding of occupational therapy principles, sensory integration or physical development strategies.
- Ability to follow therapy programmes and implement recommendations consistently.
- Strong observational and record-keeping skills.
- Patient, supportive and proactive approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Qualifications within Health & Social Care, Education, Therapy Support or related fields desirable.
Pay: £98.50-£115.00 per day
