GP Receptionist / Medical Administrator
Hulme Hall Medical Group is seeking a friendly, professional, and highly organised GP Receptionist / Medical Administrator to join our busy and supportive team.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while supporting the efficient running of reception and administrative services across the practice.

Job Title: GP Receptionist / Medical Administrator
Location: Cheadle Hulme and Handforth (working across both sites depending on service needs)
Hours: 24 hours per week
Working Pattern: 4 days per week, 6 hours per day
Preferred Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Shift Times: Shifts will vary according to practice needs. Earliest start time is 7:30am and latest finish time is 6:30pm, therefore flexibility is essential.
Salary: National Minimum Wage (age-dependent, in line with current statutory rates)
Contract: Part-Time
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role within a busy GP practice, providing reception and administrative support to patients and clinicians. The successful candidate will be expected to work across our Cheadle Hulme and Handforth sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Managing a busy reception desk.
- Answering incoming telephone calls and dealing with enquiries efficiently.
- Booking, amending and cancelling appointments.
- Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
- Registering new patients and updating patient records.
- Scanning, filing and processing medical documentation.
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Supporting clinicians and colleagues with administrative tasks.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to GDPR and NHS guidelines.
- Delivering excellent customer service at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is confident dealing with the public both face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Has strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Can remain calm and professional in a busy environment.
- Has good IT and data entry skills.
- Is reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a team.
- Previous GP, NHS, healthcare reception or medical administration experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
