About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised, proactive and detail-focused Compliance & Quality Co-Ordinator to join our team in Knutsford on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.
The role will support the organisation in maintaining full compliance with UK transport regulations and the effective operation of our Combined Management System, aligned with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety).
Working closely with operational teams and management, you will co-ordinate day-to-day compliance and quality activities, maintain accurate records, support audits and inspections, monitor performance and contribute to continuous improvement across transport and logistics operations.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys working across compliance, quality, environmental and health & safety disciplines and who is confident managing multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory & ISO Compliance
- Support compliance with UK transport legislation, including driver hours, tachograph legislation and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory updates from the DVSA, HSE and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Support the implementation of changes to legislation, policies and procedures.
- Act as a key point of contact for the Combined Management System.
- Support the maintenance and continual improvement of systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Co-ordinate and support certification audits, surveillance visits and recertification processes.
- Maintain relevant policies, procedures, records and compliance documentation.
Driver & Vehicle Compliance
- Monitor driver documentation, including driving licences, CPC records and infringement records.
- Review and analyse tachograph data to identify potential infringements and support compliance with legal driving and working time requirements.
- Monitor vehicle MOTs, servicing, safety inspections and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure vehicle compliance records are accurate and up to date.
- Support the monitoring and follow-up of vehicle defects and corrective actions.
- Assist with environmental compliance relating to fleet efficiency, emissions and sustainable transport operations.
Quality, Environmental & Health & Safety
- Develop, maintain and update operational procedures in line with quality and compliance requirements.
- Support environmental management processes, including waste control, fuel usage monitoring and sustainability initiatives.
- Promote compliance with company health & safety procedures.
- Support risk assessments and compliance inspections.
- Assist with the investigation of non-conformances, complaints, incidents and near misses.
- Record, monitor and follow up corrective actions.
Audits & Performance Reporting
- Plan and co-ordinate internal audit schedules.
- Assist with conducting internal compliance and quality audits.
- Support external audits, certification visits and regulatory inspections.
- Maintain audit records, findings and action plans.
- Produce management reports covering compliance performance, audit results and system effectiveness.
- Monitor KPIs, including compliance scores, incident rates, environmental performance and audit findings.
- Analyse data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Incident, Risk & Continual Improvement
- Support investigations into accidents, near misses, environmental incidents and compliance breaches.
- Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Support risk assessments across quality, environmental and health & safety areas.
- Follow up agreed actions to ensure they are completed effectively and within required timescales.
- Identify opportunities for continual improvement across operational processes.
- Support the development of a positive culture of compliance, quality, safety and environmental responsibility.
About You
We are looking for an organised and methodical individual with excellent attention to detail and a strong interest in compliance and quality.
You may have previous experience within transport compliance, quality assurance, QHSE, logistics, auditing or an ISO-regulated environment. We are also happy to consider candidates with transferable experience who can demonstrate strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of UK transport compliance requirements.
- Understanding of driver hours and tachograph legislation.
- Awareness of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection requirements.
- Knowledge or experience of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections or compliance checks.
- Understanding of non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Awareness of health & safety and environmental requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting systems would be advantageous.
