Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, experienced PCV Driver for regular, ad-hoc double-decker road testing in the Sheffield area. This is a highly flexible, casual role ideal for a freelance or semi-retired driver looking for a stress-free day out behind the wheel without the pressure of timetables or passenger management. Your primary responsibility will be conducting standard road tests of empty double-decker buses. These tests are required following modification work to ensure handling, basic performance, and roadworthiness meet safety standards before the vehicles return to service. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safe, controlled road tests of empty double-decker buses on designated local routes.
- Evaluate basic vehicle handling, braking, and performance under standard road conditions.
- Complete a simple post-drive checklist to log miles covered and note any obvious road handling observations.
- Strictly adhere to all local height and weight restrictions, maintaining extreme awareness of Sheffield’s low bridges.
- Safely shunt and manoeuvre vehicles within the depot or designated yard space.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence with Category D entitlement.
- Experience: Proven, confident experience driving double-decker buses is essential.
- Cards: A valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC) and a Digital Tachograph Card.
- Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Sheffield and Rotherham road network, specifically low-bridge risk zones.
- Professionalism: A reliable, safety-first mindset.
Pay: £16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1.0 – 16.0 per week
