Overview
We are looking for an experienced and safety-focused Slinger/Signaller to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing crane operations, safely attaching and securing loads, and ensuring the safe movement of materials around busy construction sites. You will work closely with crane operators, site managers, and other trades to maintain efficient and safe lifting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Sling and secure loads using the correct lifting accessories and techniques.
- Direct crane operators using approved hand signals and radio communication.
- Ensure all lifting operations are carried out safely and in accordance with lifting plans.
- Check lifting equipment and accessories before use and report defects immediately.
- Guide loads safely to designated locations on site.
- Maintain exclusion zones and ensure site personnel remain clear of lifting operations.
- Follow site-specific health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with general site duties when lifting operations are not in progress.
- Complete relevant safety checks and documentation as required.
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents to site management.
Essential Requirements
- Valid CPCS A40 Slinger/Signaller Card or NPORS equivalent.
- Previous experience working on construction sites.
- Strong understanding of lifting operations and crane safety.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- CSCS Card.
- Crane Supervisor qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience on commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
