Front of House — Ormeau Dental Care, Belfast
Be the warm welcome people remember.
We're a family-run practice in central Belfast, and we've built something we're proud of — a settled, brilliant team, a strong clinical reputation, and patients who keep coming back because of how it feels to be here, not just the dentistry.
Front of house is where that feeling starts. Before anyone meets a clinician, they meet you: the warm hello, the calm voice on the phone when someone's nervous, the sense that they're in safe, organised hands. We think it's one of the most important roles in the building, and we treat it that way.
You'll fit right in if you're someone who…
- Genuinely likes looking after people — and is especially good with the anxious ones.
- Stays warm and unflappable when it's busy, and is the steady presence at the desk rather than the flustered one.
- Does what you say you'll do. If you pick something up, it gets followed through — properly.
- Is fair, straight and easy to be around, with patients and teammates alike.
- Notices the small things: the diary that doesn't quite line up, the gap that could be filled, the detail others miss.
- Takes quiet pride in a calm, spotless front of house, because that's part of the welcome too.
If you've come from hospitality and know what looking after people really feels like, you'll be right at home. Dental experience is a bonus, not a must — we'll teach you the systems. It's the attitude we're hiring for.
What you'll be doing
Running reception day to day — welcoming patients, managing the phones and the diaries, taking and reconciling payments, and keeping the front of house calm, warm and well-run. You'll help the practice grow through the kind of service that makes people recommend us and leave a five-star review, pull together the weekly numbers, and keep our standards and policies at your fingertips. None of it is hard once you're settled. All of it matters.
What you'll get from us
- Proper training and a genuine welcome, including a structured three-month front-of-house development programme.
- A team that has your back, leadership that's present and invested, and the support to do the role really well.
- Clear expectations and the room to grow — we set the bar high and we help you reach it.
- A practice where front of house is valued as the heart of the patient experience, not an afterthought.
The practical details
- Pay: £13.50–£15.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Hours: Full-time over 4 days, 8.00am–5.30pm. No weekends. Part-time also considered for the right person.
- Location: In person, central Belfast — you'll need to reliably commute or be planning to relocate before starting.
- Helpful experience: dental reception or hospitality; confident with IT; NVQ 2 Customer Service or equivalent welcome. Around a year in a medical or front-desk reception role is a plus, but not a dealbreaker if the fit is right.
This is a busy front of house in a practice that cares a lot about getting things right, so some days move fast. We're not after someone who wants a quiet, invisible desk — we're after someone who wants to be the reason people feel looked after from the moment they walk in. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you.
To apply, send your CV and a short note telling us why this sounds like you to Paula or Heather. We read every one.
