For some young people, learning begins when they finally feel understood.
Not every child is ready to learn in a classroom.
Some need education delivered differently—at their pace, in an environment where they feel safe, supported, and able to rebuild their confidence.
As a Home Tutor, you'll provide personalised education for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them reconnect with learning while supporting their academic, emotional, and personal development. Every session is an opportunity to build trust, inspire confidence, and make a lasting difference.
Milestone Education is recruiting a dedicated Home Tutor to support pupils across Sandwell. This full-time role is ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to education through tailored, one-to-one learning.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
- Build positive relationships that encourage engagement and confidence.
- Support pupils' academic progress alongside their emotional wellbeing.
- Use creative and flexible teaching approaches to re-engage learners.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of learning.
- Work collaboratively with schools, families, and other professionals.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience supporting or teaching pupils with SEND and SEMH.
- Experience delivering personalised learning or intervention programmes.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but experienced tutors will also be considered.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Skills & Qualities
- Experience working as a Home Tutor, Outreach Tutor, Intervention Teacher, or Alternative Provision Teacher.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Experience supporting pupils who are unable to access mainstream education.
- Ability to deliver engaging, personalised learning across a range of abilities.
