The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across our manufacturing facilities, including our galvanising plant. The maintenance team operates seven days a week, and you will ensure all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure function safely, efficiently, and reliably. This hands-on leadership role involves optimising equipment performance, minimising downtime, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and developing a skilled maintenance team. The role is Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30, but may require additional out-of-hours work when needed.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
- Coordinate all maintenance activities to minimise production interruptions and downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures or recurring issues.
- Plan and execute maintenance shutdowns and major repair projects within time and budget.
- Lead, supervise, and develop maintenance personnel, including technicians, electricians, and mechanics.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations to support professional growth.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain all facility equipment, utilities, and infrastructure in optimal condition.
- Ensure accurate maintenance records through CMMS systems and oversee spare parts inventory.
- Manage the maintenance department budget, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures.
- Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors and contractors.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with HSE, ISO, and company standards.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to enhance facility reliability and efficiency.
- Implement Lean, TPM, or RCM best practices and monitor KPIs such as equipment uptime, MTBF, and MTTR.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive maintenance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Electrical/mechanical qualifications, including 18th Edition.
- Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of industrial safety standards and maintenance best practices.
Preferred:
- Certification in Maintenance and Reliability (CMRP) or Certified Maintenance Manager (CPMM).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM).
- Proven record of implementing KPIs and continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing setting.
