Utility Arborist (Full-Time Sub-contractor) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and reliable Utility Arborist to join our team as a full-time subcontractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out vegetation management, tree pruning, removals, and clearance works around utility networks, including power lines, highways, railways, and other infrastructure. This role requires a strong focus on safety, compliance, and high-quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities * Perform tree pruning, dismantling, felling, and vegetation clearance in proximity to overhead and underground utility services. * Ensure all works are completed in accordance with industry standards, client specifications, and health & safety regulations. * Conduct site-specific risk assessments and implement safe systems of work. * Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, MEWPs, and other arboricultural equipment safely and efficiently. * Work as part of a team or independently to meet daily productivity targets. * Identify tree defects, hazards, and potential risks to utility infrastructure. * Maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order. * Complete job sheets, reports, and relevant documentation accurately. * Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public, landowners, and clients. * Respond to emergency call-outs and storm damage work when required. Requirements * Relevant arboricultural qualifications (e.g. NPTC/LANTRA chainsaw units, climbing & aerial rescue). * Utility arboriculture certification (UA units preferred). * Full UK driving licence (B+E, C1, or towing licence advantageous). * Knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry best practice. * Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. * Physically fit with a strong work ethic. * Ability to work at height and in challenging environments. * First Aid qualification preferred.
* Must be able to pass a drugs and alcohol test
* Medical will be required on certain job sites Desirable Skills * Experience working near power lines or other utility networks. * IPAF / MEWP certification. * Woodchipper and stump grinder qualifications. * Good communication and teamwork skills.
